The Prairie Fox has quite a nice storage (160 gallons) for fresh water, dived over 5 tanks .
But we decided that a Watermaker was the piece of equipment that belongs on a boat what want to be self supporting. We choosed the Spectra Ventura 200T. This was also the Practical Sailor Editor’s Choice in 2013
The Ventura 200T is an ideal system for installation in tight spaces. Simple analog controls and gauges display the feed water pressure and the product flow meter. Something what we learned in more then ten years cruising is: “keep everything as simple as possible”
For testing water quality, we have a handheld salinity meter that digitally tests the total dissolved solids (TDS) of the water that comes out of the Watermaker. Which is any salt, metal or mineral in the water. With the push of a button, it can tell you the overall water purity level. It is a quick and inexpensive way to check the quality of our own fresh water plant.
